Culture Night Galway 2011

To celebrate Year of Craft 2011 on Culture Night, several craft organisations are running a series of free craft workshops in their workshops/venues. Workshop participants will use textile materials, in their county colours, to create a textile panel using a variety of craft techniques.

Groundworks Studios will be running two workshops on Culture Night, Friday 23rd Sptember:

Workshop 1: Make Your Mark! with Joanna McGlynn
Make your mark and hang it! Participants will be introduced to print and mark making techniques. Found objects, recycled materials and textured surfaces become print making tools to produce designs on fabric, using the Galway colours
Time: 5pm & 6.30pm
Duration: 1 hour
Age Group: All Ages

Workshop 2: Fabric Manipulation with Berni McCabe
Participants will learn to create texture effects and 3D shapes in fabric using simple fabric folding and tying techniques. Samples will be combined to produce a 20cm x 20cm final piece.
Time: 8pm
Duration: 1 hour
Age Group: Age 10+
